Perfectionism

Many of us are or have been perfectionists at one time or other. Even me.

But looking at it now it seems such a waste of effort and talent. And even in some cases an act of those who lack the courage to leave what they know and are good at for that which is challenging and they risk failing at.

The constant thirst for approval to feed self-esteem can tie people, and moreso women, into damaging behaviour.

Our self-worth is precious. We need to nurture and grow it ourselves, not leave it at the mercy of others. We are NOT only as good as someone else’s view of our last piece of work. That way anxiety and insecurity lies.

Over the rest of this week, I’ll layout the consequences for individuals, teams and companies of being driven by perfectionism.

They are many and serious.
