Imposter Syndrome can kill your progress and stop you from grabbing opportunities.

In a recent poll I conducted amongst professionals, the most common time for experiencing imposter syndrome was when they were considering applying for a new role, closely followed by when they were just about to start a new role.

Do you put off applying for roles because you feel you’re under-qualified or that if you got the job you’d fail at it? Perhaps you’re concerned that others will laugh at you for applying and thinking you were good enough.

What a shame! In recent interviews I conducted with HR heads, they emphasised how important it was to give it a go. They wanted to receive more CVs, for positions of greater responsibility – especially from women who sometimes held back.

Opportunities are there for you to go for. Whether you get the role or not, your confidence in applying will increase if you actually apply.

Don’t sell yourself short – you’re worth more than you think.
